Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Martins Ferry High School graduate Tev’n Williams has been awarded the 2025 James W. Everson Scholarship. This annual scholarship recognizes one outstanding student with a $1,000 award to support their academic and professional aspirations. Eligible recipients must be graduating seniors from Martins Ferry High School who have maintained a high GPA, plan to pursue a college degree, and demonstrate a strong interest in a business-related career.
Williams, a resident of St. Clairsville, Ohio, distinguished himself through his academic excellence and wideranging extracurricular involvement. He graduated from Martins Ferry High School with a 4.1 GPA and actively participated in football, track, and numerous educational and enrichment-focused school clubs. His achievements both in and out of the classroom reflect the qualities the James W. Everson Scholarship seeks to honor.
In the fall, Williams will attend Capital University, where he plans to major in Business Management. His longterm career goal is to earn a bachelor’s degree in business or sports management and eventually open a family-run warehouse, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to building a legacy.
Unified Bank Chairman, President, and CEO Scott Everson shared the significance of the award, stating, “The James W. Everson Scholarship is awarded annually by Unified Bank in honor of my father, James Everson, former Chairman, President, and CEO of Unified Bank. His legacy is one of creating opportunities and better futures for young people in the Martins Ferry area. Supporting driven students like Tev’n continues that mission.” Reflecting on the honor, Williams said, “The James W. Everson Scholarship was established to honor his legacy and support students for their hard work inside and outside the classroom by benefiting the community. It is an honor to be awarded this scholarship and to make a small footprint in the bigger picture of James W. Everson’s legacy.”
The James W. Everson Scholarship continues to recognize and empower local students who strive to better themselves and their communities, upholding the values of service, ambition, and academic excellence that defined James W. Everson’s life and leadership.
