Community Pride is very real, according to the Tuscarawas County Sports Hall of Fame (TCSHOF) promoters, contributors, inductees, and board of directors. Honoring and sharing the experiences and accomplishments of our area’s great athletes is a way to unite the community through our shared love of sports. The TCSHOF honors our greats daily through an interactive public-facing Digital Touch Board in the Dover Public Library, online at http://www.doverlibrary.org/about-2/tcshof-2/, and through the TCSHOF Facebook page.
The idea of a Sports Hall of Fame started nearly five years ago when a Sports Book Discussion Group, meeting monthly at the Dover Public Library, voiced opinions about developing a way to showcase area legends. Tom Frabizo, TCSHOF President suggested a Hall of Fame, and the group set out to research and study possibilities. With an abundance of worthy and eligible possible inductees but a lack of physical space, the group began considering a digital or virtual hall. Eventually, this turned into the current Digital Touch Board, located in the Dover Public Library, as the physical and virtual home.
The Sports Hall of Fame Digital Touch Board was made possible in part through a donation from Unified Bank. Unified was a major sponsor of the library’s renovation campaign in 2018, making them a great fit to join the TCSHOF and the Dover Public Library in bringing this all together.
According to Jim Gill, Dover Public Library Director and TCSHOF Secretary, “Both the Tuscarawas County Sports Hall of Fame and the Dover Public Library are grateful for the generosity of Unifed Bank over the years.  They have intentionally invested in their community, and their impact is felt by many.” “Unified’s sponsorship of the TCSHOF’s TouchPro display board allows our organization to provide a classy, easy to use, professional, and technologically advanced way of paying tribute to our inductees,” Gill added.
Those interested in learning more about the TCSHOF can visit the TouchPro Digital Board in the Dover Public Library or visit online at http://www.doverlibrary.org/about-2/tcshof-2/.
