What does Unified Bank have in common with a giant butterfly, ladybug, fish, turtle, giant umbrella, and flowers that all squirt water? Community. Unified is a community bank, and these aforementioned water features are all a part of the new community Splash Pad in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
Recently the recreation department of the City of Martins Ferry installed a new water feature splash pad at the city pool. To help cover the venture’s cost, the City requested financial support from the community, and Unified Bank President, Chairman, and CEO Scott Everson stepped up with Unified support.
Unified initially agreed to a sponsorship amount for the project but, after a tour of the facility, decided to increase their contribution and cover the cost of the child-safe turf that will surround the splash pad. Turf installation will be completed before the pool and splash pad open next year.
Unified Bank began in Martins Ferry in 1902, and its vision is to create better lives and futures for the people and communities they proudly serve. Unified Bank President Scott Everson said, “When the City asked for our help, we knew there was no better way to show our support than to provide for our children.”
Martins Ferry Mayor John Davies said, “Until I became Mayor of the City of Martins Ferry, I had no idea how much Unified Bank contributes to and supports the City and surrounding community. Their kindness and support can be found everywhere.” “We couldn’t do what we do without the support from community leaders like Unified Bank,” Davies added.
In addition to the new splash pad, work has begun on installing new lighting at Fodor Field. Martins Ferry Civics is installing new lighting with support from the City of Martins Ferry and a significant financial grant from Unified Bank.

Unified Bank is a full-service FDIC-insured, state-chartered commercial bank headquartered in Martins Ferry, OH and has eighteen locations that serve the Ohio counties of Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Fairfield, Harrison, Hocking, Jefferson and Tuscarawas and Marshall County in West Virginia. Unified Bank is the sole operating subsidiary of United Bancorp, Inc. (UBCP), a publicly-traded bank holding company, and has been serving the financial needs of the Ohio Valley since 1902 from its headquarters in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
